In the Trees, Honey Bees

In the Trees, Honey Bees book review
By Lori Mortensen and  Cris Arbo.
A Sharing Nature With Children Book.

Peek inside the tree and see a wild colony of honey bees. This beautiful book is a wonderful introduction for preschoolers and early school children to the world of bees.
This book is suggested for 4 to 12 year olds, which seems a very wide age range but is explained by the layout. The book is quite unique in that it has both a simple rhyming story and pictures with more indepth information together on each page. There are close-up beautifully painted views of the queen, the cells, bee eggs and the tree with simple verse:

Morning light.
Warm and bright.
In the trees,
Honey bees!

This book has won many awards including the CBC/NSTA Outstanding Science Trade Book 2010.

Doing some bee craft or looking out for bees in the garden would be a great extension of reading this book.
